Fungal Nail Treatment

Fungal nail infections affect the toenails, and less commonly the fingernails. The infection is stubborn and difficult to fight, often lasting for many years. Starting with the edge, the nail often becomes discoloured, thicker and can even lift away from the skin. This can be painful, and the sight of the infection can cause the sufferer embarrassment.

Introduction

Fungal Nail Treatment

There are many home and over-the-counter remedies, yet most are ineffective in fighting the infection. Lutronic Spectra XT offers a breakthrough in the treatment of fungal nail infections. Strong beams of light energy are used to target the affected area of the nail. This creates heat, completely killing all trace of fungal organisms below the nail plate.

Questions
You May Have

Does the treatment hurt?

No – the area being treated may feel warm, but the procedure will not be painful.

When will I see results?

The fungal infection is destroyed immediately. Soon after the treatment, you will notice less yellowing and improved skin texture around the nail. Most patients require between five and seven sessions to become completely infection-free.

How long is each session?

The sessions are very short and require no downtime. Treatments can take place during a lunch break and you can return to work without any side effects.

How long will the results last?

Spectra XT completely destroys fungal nail infection. However, it is important to follow good foot-care practices after the procedure to ensure that the infection does not return. This includes keeping feet clean, avoiding synthetic material for footwear and keeping toenails short. Your practitioner will provide you with a more detailed aftercare programme.
