Treatment

Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers are a hugely popular treatment, providing a quick and effective way to restore or create volume in areas of the face or body.

Introduction

Dermal Fillers

Skin is injected with a filler, containing the natural substance ‘hyaluronic acid’, and as well as adding volume, treatment with dermal fillers can improve the appearance of deep lines wrinkles, or add definition to desired areas.

Treatments Offered

Tear Troughs

Tear Troughs are the depressions that form between the lower eyelid and cheek. As we age, the depressions worsen as a result of sagging skin, leaving dark circles and hollows under the eyes. Dermal fillers quickly and effectively restore lost volume, eliminating eye-bags and dark circles. Tear Trough fillers are administered using a cannula for precision and safety.

Sculpted Cheeks

A lack of plumpness in the cheek due to ageing, weight loss, or having a naturally flatter cheekbone can leave the face looking gaunt. The use of dermal fillers for cheek enhancement adds volume to the cheeks, thus contouring the face. Sculpted Cheeks give a heart-shaped face and youthful appearance.

Jaw Enhancement

A weak chin can make the face feel unbalanced. Jaw Enhancement using dermal fillers is a non-invasive alternative to surgical chin augmentation. Fillers are injected to specific areas of the chin or jaw to increase its length, width or projection. The treatment is completely non-invasive and leaves the skin scar-free.

Full-face Filler Treatment

Harpenden Skin Clinic offers Bespoke Full-face Treatments to suit individual needs. A combination of treatments balances the dimensions of the face, achieving a more natural look. A full-face treatment with injectable fillers can achieve astounding results, and the best suited areas of treatment for you can be determined through a thorough consultation with one of our aesthetics specialists.

Hand Rejuvenation

We often concentrate on our faces giving away our age, yet the skin on our hands is also a tell-tale sign of how old we truly are. The middle layer of the skin, known as the dermis, is thinner on the hands than the face and contains less collagen. As we age, we lose collagen and the hands begin to look bony and irregular in contour. Hand Rejuvenation using dermal fillers plumps up thinning skin and hollows between the fingers.

Liquid Facelift

The Liquid Facelift (also known as a Non-surgical Facelift) uses injectable fillers alongside anti-wrinkle injections to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, as well as plumping up sagging skin. This minimally invasive cosmetic procedure is becoming more and more popular due to the reduced cost and risk associated, as compared to a traditional facelift.

Questions
You May Have

Are Dermal Fillers different to Botox?

Yes! Botox blocks signals from the nerves to the muscles, causing wrinkles to soften. Dermal fillers plump from below the wrinkle, smoothing skin or adding lift.

Do Dermal Fillers hurt?

Patient accounts of discomfort vary depending on the area being treated. For example, the lips can be more sensitive as they contain dense nerve endings. The injections are small both in number and depth, meaning discomfort is not long-lasting. Side effects can include temporary swelling and redness, and mild bruising around the injection site.

How much downtime is there after the treatment?

Treatments typically last between 15 and 20 minutes. Due to the minimally invasive nature of the procedure, make-up can be applied immediately afterwards, and patients can go straight back to work.

When will I see results?

Results can be seen immediately, however, gradual improvements will continue to develop over the following 2-4 weeks.

How long do the results last?

Most fillers last between 6 and 18 months. Regular repeated treatments are required to maintain the achieved look. The longevity of the results depends on the type of dermal filler being administered and the severity of the wrinkles or problem area.
