Facial sagging refers to the loosening of skin on the face, resulting in a longer, drooped appearance. The sagging appears mainly in the lower two-thirds of the face, creating jowls below the chin and jawline.
The skin contains collagen and elastin which give the skin its strength and elasticity respectively. As we age, collagen and elastin levels deplete, leading to sagging skin. Another cause of facial sagging is the loss of facial fat which causes the leftover skin to droop.
Ageing is inevitable but not everyone is comfortable accepting it, and some would rather correct than accept! Surgery and other non-invasive options are popular ways to counteract facial sagging, and it’s the non-surgical options, such as facial skin tightening, that we provide here at Harpenden Skin Clinic.
If you relate to this condition but still feel unsure, at Harpenden Skin Clinic we are always here to help and advise patients on the best possible treatment journey performed by experienced clinicians.
