Introducing Harpenden Skin Clinic’s newest treatment – CoolSculpting, a medically proven and non-invasive treatment for the safe and effective removal of unwanted body fat. If you’ve ever considered the possibility of having Liposuction, then this is the innovative, safe, and more cost-effective method that you should consider!

CoolSculpting works by freezes the fat cells from specific or stubborn areas of the body that won’t shift through just healthy eating and exercise. During the treatment, your therapist will use a handheld device which will suction (similar to a vacuum) the skin of the problem area and fat cells are cooled with the applicator. The cold temperatures numb the area which minimises the chance of feeling any pain, and many clients have reported simply feeling a cooling sensation throughout with mild and tolerable discomfort.

Due to this being a non-invasive treatment, there is no downtime and clients can go back to their daily activities immediately. The treatment doesn’t involve surgery, incisions, or anaesthetic and so, carries less risk than liposuction and potential complications that surgeries can entail. With the average treatment time taking just an hour, a CoolSculpting appointment can easily fit into an already busy schedule.

After a CoolSculpting session, the body naturally expels the fat cells which have undergone the freezing process and allows results to be seen from just three weeks post-treatment, even after just one session! As with most treatments, results do vary for different people and for some, the final results won’t appear until six months post-treatment. If you’re looking to have this done for a specific holiday or event, we would advise booking in for your sessions (depending on the area, two treatments are usually recommended) at least three months in advance, six at the most.

Freezing temperatures do not damage/affect other cells as it intentionally does to fat cells, so there will never be any damage to the skin or surrounding tissue. A potential short-term side effect of CoolSculpting can involve minor pain or stinging around the problem area after the treatment as a result of the intensely cold temperatures that the skin and tissues have been exposed too.

Overall, you can expect too shed anywhere between 20-25% of fat following at least a couple of sessions. Although a fantastic treatment with almost guaranteed results for targeting stubborn areas of hard-to-lose fat, killing these cells does not prevent new fat cells from forming which is why, after undergoing the treatment, it’s vital to maintain the results of CoolSculpting with a healthy diet and regular exercise.
